Closed beta report Day 1

Sunday 27 May 2007

I guess you could sum up today is 3 words, well 2 words and an abbreviation.

“Lag and DC’s”

The server opened a while before advertised, unfortunately while I was still doing my annoying 1/1 patches, but very slowly. We had quite a few takers on vent, Lot’s of takers on vent, who proceeded to gloat the second they got online. I shall have vengeance for that by the way (warms the poker)

As we all slowly filtered online we all learned that targeting monsters, is not all its cracked up to be. Once you set to attack you run at the monster, with the other 20 novices in your immediate vicinity, not too fun. But as more and more people logged on eventually a balance was created and everyone set about slowly levelling, very slowly.

Once shoes and some other members had started to fight up a bit and learn where the town was, where to buy equipment we decided a trip to Prontera was in order. Then we discovered the wonder, the joy the blessing that is a beach partayyy. We then proceeded spent a good solid 15 min on the beach, coast and Prontera area dancing.

We also discovered that Porings hurt, and at level 14 they hurt a LOT. After I died on one we found out that if you click the bottom button and not the top you respawn, on the current map, not having to walk for 15 min to get back to your friends!

After several more disconnects and people leavening we never really did anything upon getting to Prontera. We just danced then disconnected. The dance of death, now on show at your local theatre.

After little trips not much happens, the few of us left went back to levelling, at the end me and our new member Kamuiix decided to team up and hit the top left newbie island. Now this was just after discovering how to buy new skills and what they do, so we went from sucking , to kicking ass. We pretty much were able to take turns in who hits first and get some very good drops. It seems that once you get level 6 sod the normal way of fighting, there are far too many people in game, you have got to party.

Well about 10 min before the end and precisely 1000exp untill level 7 the server disconnected. Logging back on thinking the servers had closed I came to discovers that the miniboss for our new little friends as there, and was ripping a poor novice to shreds. After killing it and getting back the 1000 or so lost experience from the disconnect me and kamuiix made a bad discovery.

It seems that when gm’s mess something up they like to apologise, but trying to kill us with 3 miniboss spawns in a row!

I’m not complaining though, in the final few minutes I managed to snag what seems to be a +100hp necklace, a tedybear hat and a miners helmet! Which I later found out to not be what I guessed, apart from the teddy bear
